Week 9 Reflection

In this week’s learning journey, I had the opportunity to delve into some compelling concepts and articles that have left a profound impact on my understanding of leadership. As I reflect on these experiences, several key takeaways come to mind.

First and foremost, the reading “Leadership with a Small ‘L’” by President Kim B. Clark from Brigham Young University–Idaho’s Commencement in 2007 resonated with me in a significant way. President Clark’s articulation of leadership as a broad, inclusive, and accessible concept struck a chord. He emphasized that leadership is not confined to formal positions or titles but rather a mindset and a way of life. It’s about making a positive impact on those around you, regardless of your role or status. This perspective on leadership aligns with my belief that leadership is not restricted to the few but is something we can all cultivate in our lives. President Clark’s words serve as a reminder that we have the potential to lead and inspire change in our own unique ways, and this insight is something I’ll carry with me.

Looking ahead, I am excited about the prospect of further exploring leadership theories, styles, and practical applications in our course. I’m particularly eager to delve into transformational leadership, as it seems to hold great promise in inspiring change and fostering growth within organizations and teams. I also look forward to the practical aspects of leadership, such as communication, decision-making, and conflict resolution, which are essential skills for any aspiring leader.

In conclusion, this week’s exploration of leadership with a small “L” and the anticipation of what lies ahead in our course have deepened my appreciation for the multifaceted nature of leadership. I believe that leadership is not a destination but a continuous journey of self-discovery and growth. As I continue on this path, I’m excited to learn, evolve, and develop my leadership capabilities to make a positive impact on those around me and in the broader context of organizations and society.
